Hybrid classical-quantum dynamics
A hybrid formalism is proposed for interacting classical and quantum sytems. This formalism is mathematically consistent and reduces to standard classical and quantum mechanics in the case of no interaction. However, in the presence of interaction, the correspondence principle is violated. PACS numbers: 03.65.Bz, 03.65.Sq ∗ Electronic mail: [email protected], [email protected]
متن کاملReduction Procedures in Classical and Quantum Mechanics
We present, in a pedagogical style, many instances of reduction procedures appearing in a variety of physical situations, both classical and quantum. We concentrate on the essential aspects of any reduction procedure, both in the algebraic and geometrical setting, elucidating the analogies and the differences between the classical and the quantum situations.

متن کاملDimensional reduction and quantum-to-classical reduction at high temperatures.
We discuss the relation between dimensional reduction in quantum field theories at finite temperature and a familiar quantummechanical phenomenon that quantum effects become negligible at high temperatures. Fermi and Bose fields are compared in this respect. We show that decoupling of fermions from the dimensionally reduced theory can be related to the non-existence of classical statistics for ...
متن کاملQuantum-Classical Transition in Complex Networks
The inherent properties of specific physical systems can be used as metaphors for investigation of the behavior of complex networks. This insight has already been put into practice in previous work, e.g., studying the network evolution in terms of phase transitions of quantum gases or representing distances among nodes as if they were particle energies. This paper shows that the emergence of di...
